Just out of curiosity I decided to do an Alexa ranking check for the 5 top webmasters forums on the internet. What got my attention was the fact that lately most rankings for these forums were dropping steadily. So I decided to see what was happening by doing a quick traffic ranking check on Alexa. The forums in question are:
Digital point – Alexa 190
v7n – Alexa 3391
SitePoint – Alexa 559
WebmasterWorld – Alexa 662
Wicket Fire – Alexa 3055
The graph bellow shows their Alexa ranking for the past 12 months. Notice the trends for the three top forums, they are nearly the same. This is impossible since each site has its own tendencies. Two could never be the same. These three forums peaked and slumped at exactly the same time which is impossible.

Just to be clear, I’m not trying to make a technical review of Alexa. What I am trying to say is that as an analyses tool Alexa has still a very long way to go.

This is martin, my website http://www.fortunehotels.in isn’t having good position in Alexa. I have downloaded alexa toolbar & put alexa widgets on the website too but no improvement there. In fact, I heared alexa widget, redirections aren’t effective. Is it true? Should I continue it or not?? Pls give your feedback here.

Alexa isn’t a perfect state tool actually quite far from it. If you install the alexa FireFox plugin you’ll notice that your site’s ranking will improve drastically over the next few weeks. Please understand that it might take a few months before your ranking increases drastically.
