I’ve always wanted to create my own Custom Search Engine (CSE) but because I didn’t have the necessary skills thought that it would be virtually impossible. I know there are a lot of you out there that feel the same way but thanks to Google’s Co-op creating a CSE couldn’t be any easier, no coding required.
I’ve already created my CSE a few weeks ago witch I’ve already announced on this blog, but only now am I seeing a wide spread use of the Google Co-op. Today at the Google blog you can see a good example of the CSE in action on MacWorld’s site “You can see the search box in the top right-hand corner”.
Now this all is fine and dandy but what Webmasters really want is to earn big bucks. Well the good news is that you can. If you have an AdSense for search account, you can use it to link to your CSE and earn from searches. Not only are you creating a better search experience for your visitors as you are also earning from doing it. I don’t think it could get any better than that.

Today I decided to take a look at the browser stats for two of my blogs. I always like to know exactly witch browsers are used to visit my sites in order to better optimize them especially since different blogs get diverse traffic.
I looked at stats for this blog “Deliriumpropaganda” and was surprised to notice that Firefox is the browser of choice for around 70% of my visitors, for some reason I never expected it to be this high. Another not so good surprise was that not even one person used Opera, my favorite browser, to visit my blog. Bellow is a graph with Browser percentages for this blog.
On my second blog www.amar-ela.com stats are totally different. The biggest difference is that IE accounts for 86% of all browser users. Second and surprisingly enough, Opera comes in third with 0.74% of all users and even Konqueror makes an appearance with 0.03%.
From analyzing these two graphs we can understand that Browsers vary depending on the sites topic. This blog is mostly about Internet and computer related subjects that habitually only interest people who already have some software knowledge so feel more confident to opt for other Browsers. Whilst on my other blog, consisting of an audience comprised of older men and woman with generally little computer knowledge, stats show that the default IE browser is more popular. So why is this information so important? Simple !!! The information is important because it helps us determine for which Browser we should optimize a site.
Today I came across a very interesting article about an SEO consultant that is being sued by one of his former clients because they have drop on SERPs listings. The problem is that the former client dropped on SERPs listings and one of his competitors who also use the same SEO service now ranks better than they do.Maybe they thought the SERPs listings were theirs by right?
Last week I made a post about how I had managed to increase the traffic to my blog by simply changing a few old post headings and writing a few appealing pages. At the time, I wrote that traffic from Google had gone up from 30% to 40% in a few days and that my earnings also felt a drastic increase. The reason why I decided to make an update is that the results I've been achieving have managed even impress me.
At the present moment the blog in question is receiving an average of 450 to 500 visitors per day from Google, a few weeks ago it was averaged around 220. My Adsense earnings have sky rocketed as well, it use to be a few clicks daily, now it can reach 50. The most amazing part is that the blog isn't even written in English, proving that Google can help any site or blog regardless of what language it is written in.
I advise everyone to try this method out because it can prove most effective in a very short period of time.
This has been one amazing week. Well I started off by accidentally deleting my blog while updating one of my sites. Next my computer got a virus which forced me to format my Hard Drive and install everything from scratch. This wouldn't be that bad but because I was sick with the flu I forgot to backup my Firefox Bookmarks and Thunderbird emails. Now I have lost all my important emails that contained passwords, user details and other necessary information. Not that bad for only a weeks work.
When I started working on the internet just over a year ago, there was no way I would have ever imagined the amount of money there is to be made online. With little or no experience what so ever I started by creating two bloggerblogs and thought that they would grow to make millions. Needles to say that only a few days into the game I noticed that making even a few cents with my blogs was extremely hard. The main reason why I had failed and consequently lost hope was that I didn’t take the time to read and research about blogging, I was too much in the hurry to make money.
- Read what experience bloggers have to say about the blogosphere - Understand that there is no such thing as get rich quickly - Read good material constantly - Start small and grow from there - Learn from the mistakes of other bloggers
If you take the time to search around you will notice that 90 percent of all the information needed to be a successful blogger is offered free of charge on the internet. Bloggers are known for sharing information, all you have to do is keep your eyes open and read. The other 10 percent can only be obtained by personal experience or from paid sources. Good free sources include:
To learn from your own experiences requires practice, patience and endurance, while buying information only requires money. I personally prefer the first, but many people would agree that in order to obtain a competitive edge over competitors all information is insufficient. I think that the best bloggers not only learn from their mistakes but also buy information to give them a competitive edge over their competitors. Some good sources of information include:
As I’m sure you will understand I only mentioned a few good references for each section because there are literally hundreds of paid and free resources worth reading. Which ones you choose to use is up to you, but what has worked for me fairly well was to combine a little from both worlds. For example, I would never have known what I do about SEO if not for Aaron Wall’s SEO Book. There was a lot of free information on the net about SEO but only Aaron’s book gave me the information I needed to propel my blogs/sites to a new level. To conclude, don’t forget that information is king and if you want to join the big boys you’ll need truck loads of it.

Just a little update on how things are going with the Freakanoid Search Engine. Like I stated yesterday, I received a lot of negative feedback regarding the color scheme I used on the site. Today you as you can see, we changed everything completely by using less aggressive colors. I would really like to hear our opinion so tell us what you think.
I’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback from users which is definitely a good thing but unfortunately many have literally begged me to change the color scheme. Thinking about it now I have to agree “I don’t know what I was thinking ”. Yesterday I promised a more lucid explanation on what exactly was Freakanoid and how to use it to its full potential but unfortunately we thought it more importance to create a new color scheme “Icons, logos, background color, etc” and only then release the FAQ. If you have any suggestions please leave a comment here and let us know what’s on your mind.
There a few signs you should watch out for before you begging a prosperous life of crime. This individual thought he had it all worked out but at the end it wasn’t meant to be. This video is a classic example of how not to rob a liquor store.
Some of you might be wondering why I haven’t being posting much on my blog lately. The truth of the matter is that I’ve been somewhat busy with another project and since I’m also studying Monday to Thursday from 18:00 until 24:00, time has been really scarce.
The reason for my absence is this site. As you can see it is a Search Engine, but with a twist. Before I start with all the details I would like to explain exactly why I decided to create a small Search Engine. The idea was to develop something which contained only the most relevant and trustworthy high content sites leaving out all the worthless garbage that unfortunately plague most modern search engines. Basically what I did was manually create a list of good sites and leave out the rest.
This isn’t a in-depth explanation but rather just something to give you an idea of what Freakanoid is. Tomorrow I’ll be posting a more in depth explanation or FAQ, whatever you want to call it, about Freakanoid, see you then.
