Well it seems that the problem was easier to fix than I had initially expected. With the help of some very friendly DP members I was able to get things going in a few minutes. That’s exactly why I love that forum. I would also like to thank everyone for being so patient, I promise next time I’ll be more careful when deleting my sites :D.
Archives for November, 2006
Well today I was working on my sites and while using the FTP program I deleted this blog by accident. Fortunately all I had to do was upload a few files that I had previously deleted and my blog came up to life, nearly perfectly. For some reason I’m having a major database problem but I’m working on it so be patient.

Changed my headings, got more traffic
Posted on 2006 under Adsense, Blogging, Google, Marketing, SEO | 2 CommentsA few days ago I decided to tweak a few things on my blog to see if I could attract more visitors. What I decided to do was go to old posts and change the heading to something simpler for search engines to understand. Headings like “My adventures in a capitalist’s world” changed to “Things I learned when starting my business”. Another test I did was to create a few more high quality pages on my blog with good headings and the best information I could possibly write. I know this might sound totally stupid but the results obtained just a few days after proved that my speculations were spot on.

Using Firefox 2.0 as your WordPress spell checker
Posted on 2006 under General Stuff | No CommentThe latest Firefox release has many improvements, but one of the new features that will certainly prove to be most handy is the Inline spell checking. The new feature enables users to quickly and effortlessly check the spelling of text entered into Web forms without having to use a separate application. This is true, but you can also use it to check spelling while writing your posts on WordPress.
The popular Christian Left Behind series written by Dr. Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins now has a Real Time Strategy game based on the novels. The site defines the target audience as “gamers and people looking for an alternative to the standard game offerings and gamers typically males from ages 13 to 34 will love the deep strategic game play”.
I’ve known about the game for some months now but only now have I been able to get my hands on the demo. I decided to try it out to see what the big fuss was all about.

The Death of Internet Marketing Report
Posted on 2006 under Adsense, Blogging, Books, Marketing, SEO, Tools | No Comment
Mike Filsame just released his new superb eBook “The Death of Internet Marketing Report” which is a definite must for all Internet Marketers. At first I was skeptical and thought this was yet another FREE online eBook that nobody wanted to read, and yes I said FREE. After about two seconds spent reading the introduction and the first few paragraphs I just couldn’t take my eyes off it.
I’ve seen eBooks not even half as good as Mike Filsame’s The Death of Internet Marketing Report being sold for hundreds if not thousands of dollars so needled to say that I was rather surprised that something this good was being distributed free. You can read and explanation why Mike Filsame is offering his work for free in his eBook.
Everyone loves Wal-Mart so much, they can’t even wait for the doors to open “see the security guy run away from the crowd”. People are in such a hurry to get the latest Xbox 360 that some injured themselves and have to be taken to hospital by ambulance. There are two things I don’t get about this video. First what’s all the rush for, it’s only an Xbox and second haven’t these people heard of Wii.

Today I was looking at Google’s Code Home and came upon a little gem I didn’t even know existed. To be totally honest I was actually looking for the Google AJAX Search API for a little project I am thinking of starting, but what I found by mistake was rather interesting. The strange part is that I spend a lot of my time on forums and have never seen anyone mention the Google Webmaster Tools that helps you “Optimize your site’s coverage in Google’s search index”.
In simpler terms, the Google Webmaster Tools provides a bunch of free tools to make your site more Google-friendly. With these tools you can better understand how Google views your site so that it will be possible to diagnose the problems and help you improve your site’s visibility.
A webmaster is only as good as the tools he uses. That’s why now and then I like to post about some nice little tools that can provide some very useful information. DomainTools.com has many great tools which I strongly advise every serious webmaster to check out, but the one I think to be most useful is the Reverse IP Search. To use this tool you will have to register for a free account. After that’s done simply add an URL to the search box and it will display all the sites that are hosted on the same server as that domain. This is great for finding hidden sites that your competitors might be working on and don’t want you to know about. Do remember that it will only provide useful information if your competitor is using a dedicated server, shared hosting accounts will display all sites that are hosted on that server.

If you’ve visited my blog before you’ll notice that I’ve changed the template to something a bit more lively. I know the blog is only a month old but the previous template wasn’t producing the results I had expected. First I think it might have been a bit to confusing and second it just didn’t seem to fit the blog’s topic. I committed a big mistake right from the beginning. Well anyway, I thought it best to fix it now while things are still new. Hope you like it.
