dallsXtreme.gifI guess I’m what you could call a casual gamer. Every night, just before I go off to bed, I like to take a few relaxing minutes to grab a machinegun, shoot bad guys and blow things up. There’s nothing better for relaxing after a hard day’s work than taking part in some harmless, family friendly violence. Trust me when I say, there’s nothing more calming than playing a good game.

When it comes to gaming I’m very demanding even more so when game play and sound quality is in question. For this very reason the only possible option is Vertrilo since no other program offers such exceptional sound quality and group communications services all bundled in one package. If you still don’t know what Vertrilo is or what it’s used for I’ll explain.

Ventrilo is a group communications software utilized mainly by gamers to communicate, especially during online game competitions. Known for its extremely high quality surround sound positioning and special sound effects, Ventrilo enables each user to fully customize exactly how they wish to hear the sounds from other users and games. You do need to buy hosting for it to work so opting for high quality ventrilo servers is a must especially if you belong to a big game clan or play with many other gamers.

If you take pride in gaming just like me and are looking for hosting there are many sites that offer high quality Ventrilo server hosting at very affordable prices. Choosing the right host is very important since the entire game play experience relies on the speed and stability of the servers. Remember that a good Ventrilo host offers immediate activation, good quality servers combined with exceptional customer service so you might want to take a good look at the link I provided above.

ghostbusters.gifYesterday I started using the MyblogLog community service on my blog. Well it didn’t take long before I wanted to take things to the nest level. Today I found a nice plugin that enables you to show MyBloglog Avatars next to comments. Basically when someone that has a MyBlogLog account leaves a comment his Avatar will display next to it. For a quick tutorial on how to download and install the plugin please follow the very simple instructions bellow.

Installing

The installation isn’t very complicated but you best follow my instructions because it will save you a lot of headaches.

1- First download the plugin here and then upload the entire archive to your plugin directory.
2- Now you may activate the plugin.
3- Go to Presentation -> Theme editor -> comments to paste the following code.

<?php if(function_exists("MyAvatars")) MyAvatars(); ?>

The code above must be inserted in the comment loop normally after

<?php $count_pings = 1; foreach ($comments as $comment)

If your like me, a very generous person that likes freedom and good sense, there is a way to deactivate the nofollow attribute that comes enables by default.

Open the Myavatar.php file using your favourite text editor or Dreamweaver and change where it says nofollow to dofollow.

<a rel="dofollow" href="<?php echo $mybloglog_URL; ?>" target="_blank" title="<?php echo $mybloglog_TITLE; ?>">

MyBlogLog

myBloglog.gif Today I finally decided to join the myBloglog network to see what it was all about. I’m not really a widget and big buttons king of guy so it was something that took me a very long to decide. Especially since I didn’t know whether it would be something I wanted displayed on my precious blog. I just want to start by saying that I couldn’t be happier with the results.

For starters the myBloglog community is really amazing and friendly too. My account was created just a few hours ago and some members have already dropped in to see my profile. Being used to services like blogger and other social networking sites that require days before the first person even knows you’re alive, this was surely a pleasant surprise.

I also took the opportunity to create a profile page for my blog (aka: deliriumpropaganda.com) which always helps bringing in the readers. You can join my community here. If you haven’t joined MyBlogLog yet I honestly advise you to give it a try, you won’t regret it.

Domain Express

domainExpress.gifI have bought many domains in the past and if there is one thing I’ve learnt is that finding a first class domain name registrar is extremely important. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for good deals combined with exceptional customer service. If you’re fairly familiar with buying domain names you will undoubtedly know that it isn’t always an easy task.

Domain Express is a domain registrar that offers exceptional prices on all their domains. Take a look at their domain name price list for some excellent offers. While looking at their list I noticed that they also have the .eu and eu.com extension domains available, something that doesn’t happen with many other popular registrars. Another positive aspect is that there are no extra or hidden fees charged when buying a domain, all prices are final.

If you’re in the market for new domains I think it would be a good idea to give Domain Express a try. Please do remember that before buying any domain name it is always essential that you read their service terms very carefully.

Alexa trend

Alexa_the_Web_Information_Company_1193130074928.pngJust out of curiosity I decided to do an Alexa ranking check for the 5 top webmasters forums on the internet. What got my attention was the fact that lately most rankings for these forums were dropping steadily. So I decided to see what was happening by doing a quick traffic ranking check on Alexa.

The forums in question are:
Digital point – Alexa 190
v7n – Alexa 3391
SitePoint – Alexa 559
WebmasterWorld – Alexa 662
Wicket Fire – Alexa 3055

The graph bellow shows their Alexa ranking for the past 12 months. Notice the trends for the three top forums, they are nearly the same. This is impossible since each site has its own tendencies. Two could never be the same. These three forums peaked and slumped at exactly the same time which is impossible.

Just to be clear, I’m not trying to make a technical review of Alexa. What I am trying to say is that as an analyses tool Alexa has still a very long way to go.

College

harvard.gifWhen I was looking for the perfect college or University to attend, I remember that the task wasn’t very easy seeing as there were so many to choose from. Given that this is a choice that will affect you for the rest of your life making the right decision is very important. I know we all dream of going to fine institutions like Boston College and  Augsburg College but this isn’t always the best option. Who knows if the best for you won’t be something like white college?

In my opinion it is also the best choice to always opt for a college relatively near to where you live so that going home once in a while won’t cost a fortune. I would also strongly suggest that you take various financial matters into consideration. Money is very important and most often than not it runs out before you even notice it. Having good financial backing is important since you won’t have time for a full time job. Those are just a few tips I think important for anyone going to college.

Craigslist Overview

CraigslistOverview.gifIf you’ve been keeping up with this blog by reading all the latest posts I’m sure you would have noticed that I’m somewhat of what you could call, a Craigslist fan. I know it might sound strange but do take a minute to think about it.

It never ceases to amaze me how a site that presents itself in such a minimalist manner can offer such important services to the community. The Craigslist housing section has become the number one stop for anyone looking for rooms, apartments or houses to rent. Not to mention the famous Craigslist Jobs section that is currently one of the most visited online job recourses on the internet. All this accomplished by one simple site. If that isn’t amazing I really don’t know what is.

That is why I always like study new ways in which to take advantage of what Craigslist has to offer. Above I linked three important resources that will prove very useful for anyone wanting to find information on topics related to Craigslist. There is a lot more to Craigslist than meets the eye.

Affiliate programs

Affiliate_money.jpgToday I updated my Affiliate programs page to include a few more options, like WidegetBucks, for everyone that is interested in making money online. I know that there are still many good affiliate programs that aren’t on the list but I though these were the most important ones.

If you’re interested in pay-to-post services please look at this articles about Four pay to post sites for every blogger. I will also be updating the Affiliate programs page in the new few days to see if I can have it complete by the end of the week.
