Building effective links is one of the most time consuming and challenging aspects of web site design. Ultimately, link building can spell the difference between a high search engine ranking web page and one that disappears in a sea of similar web sites, so it is best to take the time to do it right.
There are certainly newer search engine algorithms being developed for the web but effective linking continues to be the most decisive factor in search engine optimization and will likely be for several years more.
Links as the name implies, are the most basic connectors to all the pages on the Interent and is the easiest way for a given application to gauge the relevance and integrity of a web page.
People love lists; find a way to integrate a list into your site. This can be anything from a list of tips or things to avoid or a list suggested reading, for example. Lists give the impression of being a definitive source of information and many people will want to link to them.
Often people will link to a site if they feel that it is an authority on a given subject; they will then feel confident about recommending that site to other people. That is what link building is all about after all, a sort of digital referral or stamp of approval.
Every web site should strive to have reliable and well-researched content. Try to keep your content informative but simple; if no one can understand what your web site says they probably won?t want to link to it! Check your text for spelling or grammatical errors; a web site riddled with poor spelling and bad sentence construction doesn?t seem very professional or authoritative.
Online news sites are a good way to establish links. Some of the things you can do are: submit an article for online publication or syndicate an article with a news site. Reputable sites usually enjoy a high search engine rank for their articles and receive plenty of traffic. You may also send press releases or trade articles with other sites?or even write an article about another site and ask then to link back to your site; most will be happy to repay the favor.
Establish contacts with the Better Business Bureau or the Chamber of Commerce in your area or the relevant city and state government offices. You may even look around closer to home by submitting your link to the local library or exchanging links with local businesses in your area; even non-competing businesses in the same field.
Consider starting an affiliate program; it may not lead directly to high SEO value but it can still prove useful in providing additional links.
Submit your site to directories that allow free submissions such as DMOZ (http://dmoz.org) or even paid directories. You can even take this a step further by creating your own directory of similar web sites. You can obviously link to your own site here and even include other important pages in addition to the home page. Quality listings are important here so if it is a useful directory to the most number of people, it will easily attract links.
You may want to post a link to your site in classifieds sites such as Craigslist or if you belong to user groups like Yahoo and Google groups it is often acceptable to post links to your site if you are asking or answering a question. Just make sure it is in the context of the discussion, as most people do not take kindly to being spammed.
Reviews are another great way to get people to link to your site. If you have a reputable looking site and carry informative, well-written reviews, there?s a good chance that your articles will receive high search engine rankings. Try to keep your reviews on-topic, informative and thorough, and be specific whenever possible.
Blogging has become an integral part of the Internet and is one of the most effective means of linking; you can either drop a few words of comment on someone?s blog or link to them from your own blog. Most blogs will be happy to link back to you. Try to update your blog regularly and post interesting content so people will want to link to you.
If your budget permits, explore the possibility of hiring a professional web-linking publicist (yes they do exist!) or consultant for your web site. If you choose carefully this will free you up to take care of other areas of your web site and leave the details of link building to the experts.
Those are a few things to do to create good links, what about things you should avoid? These methods will actually hurt your visibility on the web as it may cause search engines to ban your site or ignore it altogether!
Do not spam forums! Nobody likes a spammer and can usually tell if someone joins a discussion forum for the sole purpose of self-promotion. A sure way to annoy people is to post a non-relevant reply to a question and then include a link?or worse not even answer the question at all!
Choose carefully when submitting your site to directory services; a poor one won?t help increase your traffic at all and may carry out-of-date or off topic links.
When asking someone to link to your site, make sure that there is a good reason why he should; maybe your site is similar to his own in subject matter or your site showcases him, his products or his web site in a favorable light.
Take the time to compose a polite, well written personal request for linking. It doesn?t have to be long but the important thing is to make it seem like a genuine request as opposed to an impersonal, automated email. Do not pester a Webmaster with several, persistent emails; it is annoying and will not likely help your cause any. If you don?t get a reply, move on.

If your site is in Google Purgatory, prepare to spend some time suffering.
Google maintains two separate databases of indexed web pages. The main index holds billions of pages, and this where most search results come from. The second is called the “Supplemental index,” and searchers will never see those pages unless they put in long and specific keywords that are relevant only to some supplemental index page.
Therefore, don’t expect any pages in the Supplemental index to receive any significant traffic from Google.
Go to Google and run the standard query to find out whether your site in indexed — site:yourdomain.com . If you see the words “Supplemental Result” following the page size, that page is in the Supplemental results.
Here are logical reasons for your pages to be included in the Supplemental results:
1. Your page is duplicate content.
2. Your site doesn’t have any real, original content.
3. The page is orphaned – that is, there’re no links to it.
4. Your site’s content has been “scraped” — that is, you’ve just copied search engine results pages or converted RSS feeds to static HTML pages.
5. You’ve used spammy techniques to promote your site.
6. Your page seems to exist only to generate Adsense revenue. Use the page to sell something.
7. Your page software generates URLs with a “SessionID.”
8. Your site’s pages are dynamically generated — and timed out when Googlebot was visiting your site.
9. Your dynamically generated page URLs contain “&ID” or “?”.
10. Your dynamically generated URIs have parser errors that create poor HTML.
11. Your content management system delivers the same content on pages with different URLs.
Hdo you get out of Purgatory? Repent, suffer for your sins and correct them.
1. If your site is dynamically generated do whatever you can to eliminate timeouts, improve server performance and to eliminate parser errors. If possible, eliminate URIs with “?” and “&” in them.
2. Make your HTML code up to date and technically perfect. Upgrade to XHTML. Eliminate all deprecated elements such as the tag. Use Cascading Style Sheets instead of tables to lay out your pages. Check all your pages with the W3C validator (http://validator.w3.org/) or similar tool and correct all errors.
3. Eliminate duplicate and scraped content.
4. Add original content.
5. Place Adsense code below your content.
6. Make sure that all pages you want indexed have links to them.
7. Get listed in directories that allow “deep” links to pages below your home page. Here’s one list: http://www.directorycritic.com/deep-links-directory-list.html .
8. Get listed in directories Google loves and trusts: Yahoo!, Open Directory Project, Uncover the Net, Site Sift, Best of the Web, Microsoft SBD, http://Business.com, JoeAnt, Skaffe, http://GoGuides.Org and LinkCentre.
9. Start a blog and link to a different inner page (with real and new content in your blog entry) every day.
10. Write and submit articles with links to different inner pages in the resource boxes.
11. Post useful information in discussion forums and, where appropriate and useful, post links to your inner pages.
12. Keep your Google Sitemap up to date.
13. If you trade links with other webmasters, do so only with non-spammy, relevant sites. And encourage them to link to your inner pages.
The easier you make it for Google to find, crawl, like and trust all pages in your site, the more likely you are to avoid or (in time) get out of the Supplemental results.

You’re writing a blog, but not even your mother reads it regularly. How do you get people to visit and keep coming back to your site? By following a few simple steps, you can begin to see immediate increases to your traffic.
One: Let them know you’re there
This one may seem overly simple, but it’s a step many people overlook. Tell your friends and family that you have a blog. Send them the url and periodically remind them when you update it. Don’t send notices too often, but it’s perfectly okay to send an occasional e-mail to let your friends, and acquaintances, know what you’re doing.
You should also register with blog aggregators and sites that track blog postings. Most blog software enables you to do this by default.
Two: Participate on Similar Blogs
People who want to read your blog are probably already reading other blogs. Those blogs are likely very much like yours. Most sites will offer an option to list your own url as a part of your profile information. By commenting on others’ sites, you help those bloggers and increase the chance that someone will try out your blog in the process.
One word of caution concerning this technique: You should spend time on the blog and participate in a meaningful way. If you’re a frequent commenter, then the site host is more likely to go out of his or her way to help you promote your own site. Posting a single comment that you have a blog too is poor etiquette and will probably result in your comment getting deleted entirely. Treat the blogger as you want to be treated when your traffic is booming.
Three: Add your link to your signature
You may already use an e-mail signature, so why not add your blog’s url to it? Every time you send a note to a friend or forward your children’s latest school pictures, you’ll also be including your blog link. It’s a simple and easy way to get it out there.
Four: Post, Post, Post
No matter how much you advertise, unless there’s something new to read, you won’t generate traffic. You don’t have to post daily, but in most cases you should post a few times a week. The more you post, the more motivation readers have to come back and see what you’re up to now.
Any old post won’t do, either. Your readers want to know who you are and what you’re doing. A few lines or a post thrown together before bed won’t cut it. There are too many other blogs out there; give your readers something they really want to read. If they feel that you’ve taken time for them, they’ll take time to come back for you.
If you plan to be away for a while, then let your readers know that you won’t be posting for that time. Announce when you’ll return, and be sure to post on that day. Even better, schedule a few posts to come out while you’re away. Most blogging software allows you to schedule when posts will appear on your site. Whichever route you choose, don’t just leave the blog idle. You don’t want your hard-earned readership to go elsewhere because they think you’ve abandoned your blog.
Five: Get your readers involved
If there’s anything blog readers love more than reading your blog, it’s getting to participate in your blog. Host a contest to select a guest blogger for a day. Give away a small prize to the person who brings in the most new readers. Ask your readers what they’d like to see on your blog, and take their suggestions seriously.
With a little creativity and patience, you’ll soon see your traffic growing. These simple steps will allow you to attract and retain your readers as your blog develops.

Do yourself a favor. If you rely solely on your listings in the search engines to generate business, stop right now. Why? Because putting all your marketing dollars into a channel you can’t hope to control, is a fool’s game at best.
Just ask the myriad of businesses ? large, small and medium – that woke up last week to discover their sites had suffered a substantial drop (or had disappeared altogether) in Google’s page results. You can almost hear their shrieks of protest, and their howls of “WHY ME!”
Of course, this happens every time Google makes a change to its algorithm. And each time it makes me wonder why some people (and I’m including serious marketing people with big budgets here) just never learn this basic truth: you cannot produce results if you live solely in a search engine’s virtual vacuum.
Google and other search engines should never be relied upon to generate consistent traffic to your website. They should never be relied upon to generate sales. If you want your business to succeed in the long term, you need to invest in a solid, strategic, well-rounded marketing strategy.
Unfortunately, there are too many businesses out there that are indifferent to marketing in other channels, let alone know how to use online and offline channels to create a competitive advantage.
So, as a reminder to everyone who thinks they can put all their marketing eggs in one basket and still succeed, here are some fundamentals:
Product:
Are you sure your product is the best it can be? Is it better than your competitors? Does it provide something valuable to your potential customers? If you can’t answer “yes’ to these three questions and clarify your answer, you need to go back to the drawing board and set some objectives.
Price:
Whether it’s a good thing or bad, the Internet means that customers can shop around for the best deal from the comfort of their armchair. As a business owner, you can complain and moan, but it won’t help you sell any more products. Make sure you offer the best deal and that your price is competitive, but don’t get caught up in price alone ? there are other ways to convince consumers to buy from you.
Place:
Go ahead and put a billboard up in the middle of the Nevada desert. Use it to announce your latest product launch. Then sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet. That’s what you’re doing if you expect your website (and the search engines) to generate sales for you. A better way is to identify other marketing channels to promote your products.
Promotion:
What’s your offer? Why should consumers buy from you? If you know your customers and know your product, you’ll already have the answers. Look at using incentives that appeal to your target audience and complement your product. Consider direct mail, print, media and public relations and make sure you spend enough to deliver impact. The money you spend on promotion whether online of offline is an investment in the long-term success of your company.
Of course, following the above guidelines does not guarantee success, but they should at least encourage you think about and diversify your marketing efforts instead of relying on the whims of a search engine.

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the optimization of a web page in order that it ranks higher in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) for specific keywords or keyword phrases. The pages that rank higher typically gain the greater amount of search engine traffic compared to pages ranked lower for the same keyword. The majority of web users click on one of the top 5 results on the first page when they complete a search. As such, the ultimate goal of any SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) is to gain one of these coveted top spots, with the number one ranking being the primary objective.
Targeting Keywords
However, a top position for any keyword won’t suffice. In order to increase your ROI, it is vital to ensure that you target the most appropriate keywords for your pages, and for your business. While generic, or very general topic keywords, may have the highest number of searches conducted in a month they are also the most competitive and typically least productive.
Competitive Keywords
The more competitive a keyword the more pages that you need to compete with in order to benefit from an SEO campaign. Many of the pages that appear at the top of the list will also be well optimized and have a powerful link profile, making it difficult to rank highly.
Improved Conversions With Targeted Keywords
General topic based keywords have also proven to have lower conversion rates compared to more specific keywords. Targeted keywords generate targeted visitors, and targeted visitors are much more likely to be active while on the pages of your website.
How Keyword Research Helps
Keyword research helps you to identify keywords that are relevant, targeted, and preferably less competitive. By finding the right blend of these factors you can minimize the time it takes to rank well, actually increase the number of visitors, and improve your conversion rates. Targeted keyword research leads to better profit opportunities and improved ROI.
Tailoring Your Keyword Research To Your Needs
Every page of a website needs to be treated as an individual project, especially in terms of marketing. Each page will usually attract different visitors in different stages of the purchasing process. Deep product pages will often catch visitors while they are at their most profitable ? when they’re ready to buy. General pages and even product category pages can be used to attract more general terms, but they should still be properly researched and targeted very precisely to your target market.
Niche Keywords
Niche keywords are often talked about as being the ideal variety of keywords for a page. A niche keyword is a highly targeted, very specific keyword. It is geared towards a corner of the market in which you operate and typically has very few competing pages. Niche keywords don’t usually create much in the way of traffic but the traffic that they do create is highly targeted and very active. It attracts excellent conversion rates ensuring that you get a good return on your marketing investment.
Long Tail Keywords
Many web pages will gain visitors from natural keywords within the text. These long tail search terms again produce highly targeted visitors and while each individual term will not produce more than one or possibly two visitors over the space of the month, they do all add up. It is virtually impossible to research long tail keywords because of their infrequency, but by using popular keywords you heighten the chances of seeing more on your website.
Why Keyword Research Is Important
Keyword research is an important aspect of SEO because it helps to identify the terms that surfers use to access sites similar to yours. This, in turn, enables you to optimize the pages of your site and your link profile in order to attract those visitors. By doing so, you may also improve the number of long tail searches that lead to your site, and these product highly targeted visitors for little optimization effort.

If you are in a situation where you need to get information about yourself or your business out there fast, there is nothing that compares to the speed with which information can travel over the internet. Many people, from CEOs to politicians, have found that the internet is a great way to make sure that their message gets across, and with a little bit of information regarding online advertising, you can do just that.
Advertising online has equaled, if not surpassed the ability of conventional media to get the word out, and more and more, people are discovering that optimizing their web pages in a way that will be attractive to the search engines is a great way to get some attention from the right people. Search engines like Google are becoming sophisticated enough that they are using a wide variety of criteria to make sure that they sites that the recommend first are precisely what their customers are looking for. Context, whether it comes in the format of articles or glossaries will bring your website to the attention of a wider audience.
Link building is another web advertising technique that is growing in popularity. When other websites link to your website without you linking back, not only will you see an increase in traffic from the sites that are linking you themselves, but you will also get an increase in your search engine rankings. Essentially, one of the measures that Google and the other search engines use to determine how worthwhile your site is and how many non-reciprocal links to your site exist. Though at first glance, it seems that link building is not something that you have much control over, it is important to realize the fact that there are many different ways of getting links back to your website.
Google Adwords pay per click advertising is another powerful tool that many businesses have found bring relevant and topical traffic to their site. Essentially, it takes advantage of the fact that people search using keywords. When you sign up, you select the keywords you think will be used by people who are searching for or are in need of your service. When the keywords get searched, a link to your site will appear on the sidebar to the right.
With pay per click advertising on Google Adwords, you will only pay for this service when someone actually clicks to the link to your site, making it much more worthwhile than other, conventional forms of advertising. For instance, if you take out an advertisement in the newspaper, you are spending a great deal of money but your ad is appearing to many, many people who have no interest in your services. With Google Adwords, you are taking advantage of the fact the traffic that has been directed to your site is interested in what you have to offer.
If you are in a position to work with web advertising, remember that it has many advantages over traditional forms of advertisement. Not so very long ago, a newspaper announcement or a paid commercial was the best way to get people’s attention. Now, no matter how small your budget or your operation, you’ll be able to compete in an open market.

On page optimization refers to search engine optimization techniques used directly in the construction of web pages.
However, it is important to remember that on page optimization is about more than simply search engine optimization, it should be about optimizing the page for human readers.
When you do this, you generally make the search engines happy as well. It is important to provide visitors to your website with valuable content that makes them want to come back to your site again and again.
As well as ensuring your website is full of valuable content, it is important to pay attention to your use of keywords.
Avoid keyword stuffing as not only does it make your website look unintelligent and unprofessional, search engines have caught on and you will be penalized for over using keywords.
The ideal is to use keywords naturally and sparingly. You want to use the keywords often enough to attract search engine traffic but no more than that.
Although traditional SEO identifies a keyword density of 2-7% as being ideal for on page optimization, changes in Google’s search engine operations indicate that a density of only 1-2% may be preferable (and easier to read).
Make a list of commonly used search terms that relate to your subject and subtopics and sprinkle them throughout your site. Google’s latent semantic index (LSI) algorithm will also reward you for the use of similar phrases.
Keywords should not be limited to your page content. It is very important to include your keywords in your page titles. Search engines identify the content of your pages largely on the words used in your page titles.
Without the use of keywords in page titles, you will need to have a lot of external links pointed to that page to encourage website traffic.
When including keywords in your titles, place them as close to the beginning of the title as possible but be sure that it is readable. The page title is essential to on page optimization because it shows as the link in search engine results.
Each page of your website should have its own unique, relatively short page title which utilizes the main keywords for that page.
Remember that search engines only allow a certain number of characters to display in search results. Do not use your keywords more than two or three times in your title; for most keyword phrases, once should be enough.
When you read about “on page optimization” strategies, you will often come across the term “meta tags”, however because the use of meta tags has been greatly abused by spam the major search engines don’t give them much, if any, weight.
Most SEO professionals do not rely on the use of meta tags for on page optimization any more.
Nevertheless, if you choose to do so, only use the meta keyword and meta description tags and make sure that any word or phrase you list is actually included on your page, otherwise it may be interpreted as spam.
On page links to other relevant sites can also add to your search engine popularity. However, it is important that the links you provide are genuine and are directed to sites with related content that adds value to your visitors.
On page optimization is not difficult to implement and provided you offer your visitors high quality, relevant content, will greatly enhance your success with the search engines.

Search engine optimization, popularly known as SEO, is a technique that optimizes a website in order to make it very search-engine-friendly. SEO can be performed at the programming as well as at the content end ? the programming aspect of SEO tunes the website to the requirements of the latest search engines algorithms, while the content aspect of SEO involves strategically embedding sought-after keywords in the website content. There are other methods as well ? e.g., link building, article submission and directory submission.
If you want your website to register its presence in the competitive world of Internet, you’ve got to resort to SEO techniques. Otherwise, a website fails to get noticed amongst millions of them. But the bad news is that there are many unethical outfits out there who promise you great SEO, but all they do to get your website a high page rank on the results page is employ a variety of unethical techniques (the so called black-hat techniques) to fool the search engines. If caught by search engines, your website can be blacklisted and banned for adopting unethical SEO techniques. It is, therefore, absolutely important that a website owner works along with an ethical SEO consultant, and here’s how you must choose one.
Guide To Choosing An Ethical SEO Consultant
The Internet has made the world a smaller place and a website owner can work with SEO consultants based in any part of the world ? there are many SEO consultants’ websites all over the Internet, and tracking down one is not all that difficult a task. And here’s how you must choose one:
1. If the SEO consultant is a professional, then he must be accredited by many reputed organizations such as Google AdWords, Web CEO University, and SEO Pros. If the SEO consultant has more accreditations, well, the more the merrier. A certified SEO professional is ethical by default ? ethics are inbuilt into their work code.
2. He must have an impressive roster of clients who speak highly of him. And he must not be hesitant to give out a few references.
3. If the SEO consultant is professional and ethical then it automatically follows he will have a successful track record. So, go ahead and check the websites he has performed SEO on, and check if they rank high on search engines results pages.
4. The SEO consultant needs to be versatile and he must offer services such as website analysis, content writing, keyword research, link building, SEO and, of course, adequate reporting back to the client.
5. The SEO consultant must have a clean track record, in the sense that he must never have been blacklisted for adopting unethical SEO techniques. Such techniques include spamming search engines, trading links with websites that are part of link farms, or cloaking, which means coating keywords with the same color as the website’s background and stuffing a whole lot of them on all the pages. You can find out if the SEO consultant has resorted to dubious means by running a check on him on search engines and on message boards. Plus, you can always check with his references too.
That was a small guide on how to go about selecting an ethical SEO consultant. True, finding an ethical SEO consultant will take a little bit of time and effort, but it is well worth it. Because an unethical SEO consultant can kill a website, while an ethical consultant can help you build your fortune.

After several of my visitors get emailed asking me for some more detailed information on using Magic Article Rewriter and if it is too hard for them to use, I get decided to write a post that will show you that using spinning piece of software is very easy straightforward and not complicated at all.
Article spinning is basically containing a group of words or word or url’s and providing variations of individuals different words so the tool can randomly select a word or words and replace that word in an article making certain the same group is not used more then once. Therefore, thats how you take unique non duplicate content articles that you could use.
typically an article spinner program will use the figures of word3 or this symbol {word1~word2~word3}. The figures let’s the piece of software know to use the words in the grouping brackets at each end to select at random one of persons word or words and replace them in the sentence for each article. This allows the program hundreds of choices in using different words in your article that will produce a unique non-duplicate article.
For an example lets choose “How to train your dog to talk”. To spin this sentence you use this technique – can teach your dog to speak|Teaching your dog to talk to you using these techniques|It is easy to teach your dog to speak and this is how[/spin].
Really you could place any group of words inside the brackets that you choose. The symbol | lets the piece of software understand you require[ it to use the words followed with | that produces lots of variations. The more words you might place inside brackets results in a unique version of the article that could be produced when the piece of software starts to spin the article.
take the example of credit cards. bank cards. I think you can examine where this is now. people words tells the program to look for the terms contained in the brackets so it randomly chooses one of people |words| and that will be placed into your new article.
That is a general look at article spinning software. If you could place more varieties of words in the brackets, the software might make accurate unique variations of the article. The beauty of this is that when you put the words in the brackets you can read the sentence to make sure when the article is spun that it makes sense when a human reads it without any spelling or grammatical errors.
Lets take this up a notch. You can do this with html coding. We will now look at anchor text in url's using my site url http://secretwitter.com/magic-article-rewriter/. I love using this for my articles since since I change each anchor text and spin my articles, each time I choose one article I understand the anchor text will be different and unique. This is important so you build the most of backlinking power.
Anchor text to make this operate I need to obtain away the http since wordpress will turn it into an anchor text link.
Spin Anchor text - less than sign a Magic Article Rewriter|Article Magic Rewriter|Rewrite Magic Article[/spin]close link code.
view how easy that is. The program goes about spinning my anchor text in the url so when choosing a saved article from the folder of my spin articles the anchor text is automatically changed for me.
How about one more beautiful feature of spinning articles, we might spin url addresses very easy using the same simple to use prinicpal.
Rewrite Magic Article|less than sign a Buy Magic Article Rewriter[/spin]
Did I just hear you say WOW? You can spin anything, you could rewrite anything to make sense and be unique numerous[ number of times. It is fast, you have full control for the reason that you could read the changes for the reason that you go along.
Guess what though, Magic Article Rewritter program automatically does all of this with the push of a button. This is done by writing or pasting your article into the tool and you highlight each word one at a time. The tool will then show you a list of words of similar meraning, often those meanings are better words then what was at first written!
If there is no word you like then you can insert anyword, url anything you like into the box and the tool will automatically create the spin syntaxt for you.
When finished, press bulk spin, nominate how many articles you desire and press go. Its all there, a folder of your unique non duplicate content spun articles ready for you to circulate on your blog, websites and article directories to name a few.
To look at the video go to Magic Article Rewriter and just remember, the price of the piece of software will later be returned to you since you will build a larger non duplicate internet presence with your unique spun articles.

Even if you are armed with all the knowledge of SEO, you might and probably still need the services of a good SEO company. Having a good knowledge about SEO is hardly enough sometimes. Even if you are doing your best to try to get a good ranking for your site, you may still end up wondering why your site is just not doing well. For starters, you should be aware that your site will need to be optimized in all aspects. Not only that, your site needs to be maintained in a regular basis. SEO is an ongoing process that involves a lot of time and effort. To make things easier, you will be better off hiring the services of a good SEO company to do the work for your site.
There are many SEO companies today, and there are just as many reliable companies as unreliable ones. Thus, it is very important that you choose the right SEO company. Here are a few points that you should keep in mind when selecting SEO services:
Site Analysis Report
Does the SEO company provide you with a website analysis report? A reliable SEO company will be able to provide you with a comprehensive analysis of your site in terms of ranking and design to give you an idea of how much work needs to be done. They should be able to inform you of any elements in functionality, content and design that may hamper in the reading and indexing of your pages.
Providing Qualified Traffic
Do they understand the difference of plain traffic and qualified traffic? You will hire the services of an SEO company mainly because you need to attract traffic into your site. However, what you want is qualified traffic that gets customers who may be genuinely interested in availing of your products and services. You do not want unqualified traffic that comes to your site because of irrelevant keywords. Unqualified traffic only increase your bounce rate (surfers that land on your page and leave) and not your sales
Tools in Determining Keywords
What tools does the SEO company use to search for keywords? You also need to know what methodology the SEO company uses for keyword analysis. You may also want to do your own research on usual basic tools and those provided by Google AdWords, for example.
Back Link Collection
From where will the SEO company get back links from? Back links are just as, if not more, important in SEO then onsite optimization. What you would like is to get back links from good sites and sites that are closely related to your niche. Ask your SEO company what their methods are for collecting back links.
Cost Structure
A reliable SEO company will only give you a quotation as soon as they find out just how much work needs to be involved. Charging you high prices may not always necessarily ensure you high quality of services. Make sure that the price being quoted is proportional and consistent with the services that you can expect your SEO company to provide.
The Timeline
Does your SEO company offer you a timeline? It is only through hard work and proper planning that results can be achieved right on time. Some companies offer SEO packages that claim to put you in the first page search result in just a matter of 10 days. Realistically though, no SEO company can possibly guarantee you the number 1 ranking in Google in as short as 10 days. This is one of the basic guidelines actually published by Google. Make sure you do not give in to false promises. Conversely, avoid SEO services that will give you time limit. A good SEO company knows that optimization is an ongoing process and they will need to provide you with regular maintenance jobs, customer service and proper updating. An SEO campaign will take 3-6 months before seing the top results you expect.
SEO Strategy
What SEO strategy will your SEO company use to raise your ranking? You should look out for companies which will use spam advertising strategies to get you on top in no time. If the plan involves some form of unethical practice such as spamming or deceiving search engines, immediately walk away. A good SEO company will make sure that you will not be subjected to spam or deceptive services. Remember that if it is based on deceitful tactics, your site may simply be pulled out of Google’s indexing and will lead you to trouble. Knowing your SEO company and doing your own research are very important in choosing the right firm.
