About Anything, and possibly Everything..

rss.gifThe automated blog has arrives and with it came the disguised steeling of content combined with a new wave of spam that promises to clog the internet with useless rubbish. Just when we thought that normal spam was under control out comes another even worse replacement to satisfy the hunger of lazy, third class webmasters.

These blogs are generally created using the WordPress blogging CMS and an easily obtainable plugin. Let me just start by saying that if you expect me to link to this plugin I’m sorry but this will not happen since this sort of scheme doesn’t create any value, just steals content (feeds) from other blogs.

These blogs have been popping up like mushrooms and currently represent nearly all my incoming links. I don’t know if other bloggers have been experiencing the same thing but for the past month Trackbacks from such blogs have started to represent a big chunk of all spam caught by Askimet. I understand that many bloggers might even condone such practices because at the end they still get an inbound link and to be honest with you I still don’t know where I stand on this.

My problem with such blogs is that they really don’t create any value and only survive by leeching the hard work of others. We can all appreciate a link now and then but these are useless given that they boast nearly no value. I guess all we can do now is wait and hope this trend eventually dies.
