Dammatus.gifFour years of planning, that’s how long it took for German fans of the popular Warhammer 40,000 game to make what is certainly one of the most spectacular fan films ever created. With a total production cost of only € 10.000 one is left to believe that Damnatus is just another amateur film lacking true quality but this couldn’t be any further from the truth. The film employed 11 principal actors, numerous extras and meticulous special effects that would make any professional movie producer weep with envy.

Despite all the promising qualities Damnatus won’t be released given that complicated German copyright laws forbid it. The obstacles present are so complex that the director and producer of the movie have confirmed that they have given up trying to get the film in front of an audience.

For now the only thing we can do is watch the trailer and hope for the best. Unfortunately GameWorshop, owner of the WarHammer trade mark, have already stated that the film won’t be permitted to air so this might be the best fan movie that never was.

Online Games

onlinegamesite.gifLately I’ve been writing a lot about game related topics especially online gaming. Seeing as I don’t have the free time required to play console or computer games I usually find myself browsing an online game site for a quick fix. This happens quite frequently especially when I’m waiting for something work related, like an email from a client or a job offering.

To be totally honest with you I just love those online gaming sites, especially the ones that have the old Nintendo Family System (NES) games. Obviously they´re not the original NES games but some are brilliant replicas of the ones I used to play when I was a kid. If I’m note careful I’ll spend hours playing these games, especially Mario Brothers and the extremely addictive Arkanoid. These sites hold an amazing collection of free games, some have hundreds, therefore you won’t be bored any time soon.

So why don’t you take a few minutes from your busy online schedule and play a game or two. Trust me, you’ll feel completely rejuvenated after a few Arkanoid games.

LowPings Gameservers

lowpings.gifWriting about online games and quality game play got me all nostalgic especially when I remember some of the many great games I’ve played over the years. Most of you might not know, but a few years ago getting a reliable server for playing an online game wasn’t always an easy task. Many times we encountered long downtimes and seeing as most internet gamers used a dialup connection, playing online was a real adventure to say the least.

Today things have changed considerably. Once you buy a gameserver everything comes conveniently preinstalled. All you have to do is play the game and enjoy yourself. Hosting companies like Lowpings offer fully setup Soldier of Fortunate game servers for a reasonable price and the quality is exceptional. If you´re not a Soldier of Fortunate fan that’s not a problem, they also have Call of Duty game servers and TF2 servers for a bargain price, so you might want to check them out first before you make a decision. The game list is quite impressive and so are their Dual Opteron servers. To make things even easier everything is controlled using a simple Online Control Panel, as a result managing the different gameservers is a breeze.

Remember that most modern games nowadays require powerful servers combined with plenty of bandwidth to operate. Opting for mediocre services in many cases is a waste of time and money since the games don’t even work properly on these weaker and cheaper servers. It is always good to shop around for the best offers and ask experienced gamers which are the companies that one should avoid.

In my opinion there is only one option for gamers looking to purchase fast and reliable gameservers. So next time you’re thinking of purchasing a good gameserver give Lowpings a try.

dallsXtreme.gifI guess I’m what you could call a casual gamer. Every night, just before I go off to bed, I like to take a few relaxing minutes to grab a machinegun, shoot bad guys and blow things up. There’s nothing better for relaxing after a hard day’s work than taking part in some harmless, family friendly violence. Trust me when I say, there’s nothing more calming than playing a good game.

When it comes to gaming I’m very demanding even more so when game play and sound quality is in question. For this very reason the only possible option is Vertrilo since no other program offers such exceptional sound quality and group communications services all bundled in one package. If you still don’t know what Vertrilo is or what it’s used for I’ll explain.

Ventrilo is a group communications software utilized mainly by gamers to communicate, especially during online game competitions. Known for its extremely high quality surround sound positioning and special sound effects, Ventrilo enables each user to fully customize exactly how they wish to hear the sounds from other users and games. You do need to buy hosting for it to work so opting for high quality ventrilo servers is a must especially if you belong to a big game clan or play with many other gamers.

If you take pride in gaming just like me and are looking for hosting there are many sites that offer high quality Ventrilo server hosting at very affordable prices. Choosing the right host is very important since the entire game play experience relies on the speed and stability of the servers. Remember that a good Ventrilo host offers immediate activation, good quality servers combined with exceptional customer service so you might want to take a good look at the link I provided above.

War Rock - The game

war_rock.jpg

Lately I’ve been playing a free online game called War Rock. Many of you might have heard of it before but I only discovered it a few months ago. What impressed me from the very beginning was the amazing graphics and game play which in my opinion is of very high standards. I’m not going to write a huge review on the game, you can visit the official site for that, rather I’ll just cover a few interesting aspects.

Warrock can be compared to games like Medal of Honour and just because it´s free doesn’t mean it isn’t any good. Like most Free online games you have the choice to buy a premium account which offers many benefits. I’ve been playing Free to Play online games for some time but never found one that could really compare to commercial games.

From flying airplanes, driving trucks and blowing things up with tanks, Warrock is quite an amazing game. There are literally hundreds of things to do so you won’t get bored easily.

On the down side hacking is a big problem in Warrock. Playing it for just a few days you’ll undoubtedly start seeing things that shouldn’t be. Players jumping to the sky, swimming in mid air and running like flash are just the more visible ones. Other hacks include super strength, unlimited ammo & weapons and invisibility which end up making the game pretty unplayable. Game hacking is so wide spread that users send messages while playing discussing which hacks are being used by players and where they could be obtained.

The good part is that many of these issues have been addressed with the latest update and playing the game has become more entertaining and fair. If you like fast paced war games I think you will definitely like War Rock.

Halo 3

halo_3.jpg

Halo 3 is here, people are gaming and I can’t join in since I don’t have an Xbox. That sums it up pretty nicely. I wanted to know what was the big deal with Halo 3 so went searching for information around the net and this is what I got.

Microsoft can rejoice. Soldier Master Chief has come back from the battlefield with $170 million dollars in the first 24 hours of sales in the United States, making it the biggest day in US entertainment history, beating Spider Man 3 and all Harry Potter movies. Not bad, it looks like Microsoft has moved from building crappy operating systems to creating excellent games. I’m sure many IT professionals will not only encourage this migration but lend a helping hand if needed. The game was made by Bungie Studios with a development budget of a little more than $60 million. It is predicted that another $15 million to $20 million in television marketing will be spent promoting the game.

Conclusion, I still won’t by an Xbox just to play Halo 3.

If you’re anything like me leaving the computer can be somewhat of a daunting task especially if you know you haven’t red all the latest news that’s storming the web. Sometimes you are so tired and end up falling sleep right in front of your monitor but some days, the good days, you manage to keep it together just long enough to read it all and fill your eyes with news, reviews and some spicy videos. You get the picture right?

Now imagine you could get your daily news dosage all in one place and the best part about it all is that you won’t need to read it, rather stair at the screen and watch it!!! Trust me that’s not all, you can do all this while looking at a sexy girl. Need I say more?

From watching the two videos that have been released so far I couldn’t help but get the felling I was watching Digg on TV. Most of the news presented seemed taken from Digg’s front page which is perfectly normal but one would really love to see them expand beyond the traditional news sources and dive deeper into web in search of more unique content. Just like Digg did when they first launched. WebAllert is great for those lonely nights, or not, especially if you like to keep up to date on all the tech and gaming news, I know I loved it.

Saturday night, the wife is watching the late night sopies and you just can’t take it anymore, you need to relax. Instead of running around the house naked, which could greatly traumatize your children and any prying neighbours, you decide to kill a few monsters to let the stress out.

The only problem is you don’t have any games to play. Seeing as I know everyone here is an honest law abiding citizen that would never download proprietary games using a P2P client, the best solution is to play one of the many FREE FPS games available for download. I found this list that is sure to keep you busy for at least a few hours. Enough time for your wife to watch the soaps, go to bed and leave you in charge of the TV again.

For a complete list of all posts on my blog please take a look at my achieve.

Honestly good stuff

destructoid.gifMost blogs suck, that’s not an assumption but the harsh truth. As you wonder thru this lonely universe you might even think that of my blog, I know that’s impossible, so when a good blog pops up I think it’s an occasion worth rejoicing about. The story goes as follows. A few days ago while attending my night classes at the local University, my teacher blabbered on about something or another which I wasn’t really paying attention to. Comfortably seated in the front row, I navigated a rather unique site called Digg and was drawn to a story about something which I do not recall.  The blog in question is called destructoid and by gums is it good. It seems that the chaps over at destructoid have mastered the art writing  very amusing articles in good old proper English. These have made my nights at the local University a whole lot more “doable” and here are two of my favorite articles, this one and the other one.  Destructoid is a very good blog that deserves a crystal-clear thumbs up.
