Recent talks of Microsoft trying to buy Yahoo! has made me wonder. While it makes commercial sense to Microsoft, and perhaps Yahoo! shareholders, it makes absolutely no sense to us, the users.
Its common knowledge that in terms of accuracy and speed of search engines, it is rank in the order of Google, Yahoo and Live (or whatever they call it). That is the result of the market share of each company in terms of searches. Will the “merger” of Microsoft and Yahoo searches produce more accurate searches for the “new” company or search engine? Very doubtful indeed.
Mr Icahn’s mind is made up. It is up to minority Yahoo! shareholders to make their voices felt. Microsoft should concentrate on getting their products and services more user-friendly. Update their search algorithm to make it more search friendly (how many times have you searched for something on their platform and decides that Google’s searches produces more accurate results - though it is getting less accurate these days, but that’s another story.), and produce more accurate results?
Why would Microsoft wants Yahoo! ? Due to Yahoo! Mail? Social sites? Advertising potential? I currently use Yahoo! Search Marketing for my ad links. If Microsoft successfully buy Yahoo, I can see the demise of Yahoo as a search engine, and Google totally dominating - not something I would like to see really.
In business sense, Microsoft has done the right move. On the other hand, they will just waste money. Google will just grow stronger and the “new” merged search “giant” will just grow smaller, in terms of advertisement revenue, in terms of search market share. Only one guy will be left laughing.
Press Releases have become one of the most important tasks that every serious internet Marketer has to endure. Failing to publish a good Press Release can represent certain death to any marketing campaign. Every top professional internet Marketer will tell you, the best tool for creating instant Buzz around the internet is writing a Press Release and submitting it to some free sites.
The problem many times isn’t creating the press release but rather finding a suitable place to publish it. It is for that very reason that we have taken the time to create a small list of good Free PR sites that should always be present on your bookmarks.
Free Press Release Distribution Sites
1888 PressRelease.com is a Free Press release distribution service that offers free press release submissions, distribution, samples, writing tips, and a most popular press release service. For a small fee there is an upgrade option that gives your submissions better exposure.

Free-Press-Release.com is much like the other two services that offers a few extra features for paid accounts. This site is really easy to use and the best part it’s free.
I-Newswire.com enables its users to submit Press Releases for free distribution on sites and search engines. There is a premium membership option but the only benefit is having the option of submitting PR with images.
PRBuzz.com is one of my favourite sites since it offers free distribution to search engines, news sites, and blogs. The site is extremely easy to use and all you have to do is write the Press Release and submit it. Everything is totally free.
These are just some of the best Free PR sites that I use, if you search around you’ll find a few more good ones that can be useful.

Microsoft is at it again and this time they plan to be the second biggest web advertiser in the world. The Redmond Company presented a very impressive 4 step “10, 20, 30, 40″ plan that will underline their strategy to become a leader in the growing online advertising industry.
The plan is really simple and is aimed to span over the next three to five years. Basically the strategy calls for an increase in the company’s share of internet search, page views, percentage of time spent on the Internet and most importantly, percentage of advertising dollars.
1. 10% of all Internet page views will be on MSN.com and Windows Live email
2. 20% of all time spent online will be at Microsoft website
3. 30% of all Internet searches will be performed on Microsoft/Live
4. 40% of all advertising dollars will be paid to Microsoft
To make this possible Microsoft has stated that it will invest between $1.5 billion to $1.7 billion this year alone in new data centers and servers. Although we can understand the company’s efforts, there are still many obstacles to be overcome and some won’t be that easy. The plan seems rather ambitious and unrealistic in some part, especially when talking about the 40% advertising market. The attention now is on Microsoft to see whether they can pull this off and conquer the second stop for biggest internet advertiser.

Link building is one of the most important characteristics in the art of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and a serious instrument every online business should take into consideration when trying to rank well on search engines like Google, Yahoo or Ask. The more links a site has pointing to it the better it will rank on search results resulting in more visitors and more sales.
One of the most effective approaches to this problem is to have a site submitted to a web directory. An excellent place to start would be the MakeaSearch premium web directory which has a wide range of categories to accommodate nearly all sites imaginable. Another advantage of using a directory is that each site has the opportunity to leave a small description next to their link. This space could be used to write a paragraph containing useful information that would describe the business and the services offered.
The MakeaSearch directory is the best place to start any link building or advertising campaign since they boast such competitive prices and outstanding quality. Submitting a site is extremely easy and only takes a few minutes. Don’t wait any longer, start today and take advantage of superior search engine rankings that will drive hundreds of customers to your site.

Many people wonder how some webmasters know when a domain name is about to be deleted. The truth is that there is a tool that searches the internet and returns a list of domains that are in the process of being deleted. When this happens webmasters call it a dropped domain.
Such domains can prove to be very valuable since many still carry the original Page Rank value from Google. Instead of working hard developing a site for months you can get a domain with a high Page Rank already present. Doing this is fraud in my opinion especially when the main idea behind the scam is to sell cheap links to unsuspecting customers. People buying these links often don’t know that the Page Rank is in a sense false and that Google might correct the value by removing or even banning the domain.
I’m only posting this information here for educational purposes. If you buy normal text links from blogs or sites, which I disagree with, you best use services like the WayBackMachine to see how the site has changed over the past months. If the site in question looks totally different from what it did a few months prior you are being cheated and are advised not to buy these links.
Internet and computer technology is very much advanced now and it has made it very much easier for the businessmen to run their business with the help of marketing. In internet marketing email marketing is a very good way and it is a type of direct marketing. In this type of marketing electric males are used to advertise the products and business. There are a number of different companies in the world that are offering and providing their marketing services and anhosting and lunarpages are one of them. For the product base website, quality web templates are required.

RapidShare is a German owned file hosting site that operates from Switzerland. Currently revenue is generated by the subscriptions of paying (Premium) users. It operates as both a pay and free service (with many limitations), allowing any user to upload files of up to 100 MB. The user is then supplied with a unique download URL, which locates the file and enables anyone with whom the uploader shares it to download the file.
Finding RapidShare files can be quite hard since there isn’t a search function available on the site with this feature. Luckily that won’t be a big problem since all stored files contain the RapidShare URL (example: http://rapidshare.com/Filename.rar).
A few days ago I wrote a post on how to search for media files using Google. The principal used is nearly the same, all you have to do is change a few parameters. So how do we use Google to find these files? Very simple.
Search all files on rapidshare:
.* site:rapidshare.com
Search for all media files on rapidshare:
+inurl:avi|mpg|wmv site:rapidshare.com
Search all music files:
+inurl:wma|mp3|ogg site:rapidshare.com
Use this string to search for “pavarotti” wma and mp3 files, from the site rapidshare.com:
+inurl:wma|mp3|ogg site:rapidshare.com pavarotti
It’s really that simple. If you know any more search strings that should be on this list please leave a comment.

I figure myself to be just like any ordinary Net geek. Loves all that’s news especially when it offers some new way cool feature that will revolutionize the way people use the internet. Today I noticed that many blogs and some Tech sites applauded and created much buzz around a new little start-up called Spock. A simple explanation of what Spock is can be found on their site.
Spock is the online leader in personal search, helping users find and discover people. With over one hundred million people already indexed and millions added every day, Spock is building the broadest and deepest people specific search engine.
The reason for me writing this post isn’t to marvel at what ever Spock is and how I used it for two seconds and thought it to be the best invention since the automatic bread slicer. The truth is that from what I saw Spock was a major let down, not only because I really couldn’t find any information on all the names I searched but also because the attention that Spock received by the media was way, way, way over rated. Don’t get me wrong, I do think it’s a great idea to crate a people search engine but I doubt Spock is the best that can be done, and yes I do know it’s in Beta stage, like most of the net nowadays I might add…
What I’m basically trying to say here is. Aren’t we creating a lot of fuss about every stupid little thing that pops up on the net? Do these start-ups really deserve our excitement and approval when all they really are is a beginning to something that might, or not, work. Every day I read about these wonder projects that after the much artificial hype fade away and disappear into the dark corners of the internet never to seen or heard of again. With this I conclude saying that for me Spock really had not spark!!!

A few days ago as I entertained myself on the
DigitalPoint forums (DP) I came across a very cool RSS feed Search Engine (SE) that really caught my attention. The main reason for this is that I've been thinking of a similar project for some time now but never actually got around to developing the idea, guess it's to late now. Although it is roughly similar to what I was planning, the
Octora SE still managed to add a few functions which I found to be pretty cool. I won't get into more technical details because it is pretty self explanatory however I do advice everyone to take a look, trust me you won't regret it.
