One of the premier IT exhibition in Singapore held yearly is IT Show Singapore 2010.  The event is almost twenty years running and it is getting stronger and bigger by the year.

There are many other similar exhibitions held in Singapore annually such as Comex Show, Sitex, CommunicAsia etc.  What sets IT Show Singapore apart from the rest is its massive scale. Back at Suntec Singapore again this year and occupying almost the entire building, this IT exhibition will be the largest in Singapore’s show history.

Exhibitors include all the big names in the lifestyle, consumer electronics industry. You will be able to find the latest PCs (personal computers), consumer electronics, mobile communication products, digital imaging solutions, home entertainment systems and gaming products.

At IT Show Singapore every year, you will find retailers offering great discounts on their products, even for their latest products.  Some of the top favorites during the show every year would be computer printers, digital cameras, MP3 players, LCD TVs and monitors, and portable computers. You will see visitors to the show lugging their buys when they exit from the show.

One of the new products on show at the lifestyle exhibition is “The Phottix Hero Wireless live view! Remote”.  It is a part wireless video camera, part remote release. This interesting lifestyle product allows you to remotely control your DSLRS, with a video viewer which allows you to see what you are capturing. This award winning product will be offered at a huge discount over retail price during the computer show.

McCoy will also be presenting “iRiver Story”, a ebook reader which is more than what it is intended for.  You can read a wide range of text formats with it, including PDFs, TXTs and ePub.  You can even read Office files with it!  On top of that, you can even play MP3 files on it. It comes with a QWERTY keyword allowing you to keep your personal diary in it. It accepts input in English or Hanyu Pinyin for Chinese.

There are a lot of other products on offer during the show.  I would suggest you set aside at least half a day to attend the event, a full day if you can spare the time, since you probably need to cover the entire five show floors.  You can check out the organizer’s web site for more details on where each retailer is at.  The show is going to be one big maze but it looks like exploring where to find what would be a good adventure by itself.  It is certainly an event where everyone in the family can attend.

It seems that there are no stopping Google. Latest stats show that they are once again dominating the market’s searches, and they are widening the gap.

There are no big players in the search market, there is only one big player, and the rest are playing catch up.

Microsoft tried desperately to catch up with Google, for all their dominance in the desktop market, they should have easily beaten Google to a pulp. What happened?

For all Yahoo!’s dominance in the early search market, they seemed to have lost their plot too, losing market share in an even faster speed!

So what’s going on? There is only one answer. The search results.

Despite what the so-claimed experts say, branding, usability etc. etc. All these are irrelevant. Yahoo! about ten years ago have such a strong brand users “became” Yahooligans, remember? Do you hear Googlers?

Microsoft definitely knows how to brand themselves, but they failed on getting the right domain name for their search engines. And they are still failing!

Users are not stupid, definitely not Internet users. When the internet population exploded, we made do with sub-quality search results.

If you have been using the Internet for researching things since 1993 – 1994, you will definitely know we need to go through pages of irrelevant results from search engines till we find the right result we wanted.

How many of us really go through to Page 3 of any searches we do via Google nowadays?

Sadly, if we input a keyword for searches on Live or Yahoo, we may still need to work through several pages of search results to find what we want, even TODAY!

So there you go, the answer to why Google is dominating and the rest are panting. With the sizes of Microsoft and Yahoo, I am positive they can recruit top brains to do it, please recruit the right people.

I use Google everyday for my searches, like it or not, but I hate to see one day when Google is the only search engine. Monopoly is never healthy, but from the looks of things, unless Microsoft and Yahoo get it right soon, we are definitely heading that way.

In the meanwhile, I will stick to Google to find the results for my next search.

Cheated by Online Marketers?

How many of you out there have been duped into buying rubbish from so-call Internet marketers who has a large bungalow by the sea and drives 20 Ferraris?

You are not alone, and I will be starting a series on all of them. I have been selling my services online since 1996, and no, I dont sell you “ways to bring 100million visitors to your website if you use my method” BS. :D

In fact, I am not going to sell you anything, I just want to bring to attention what you should look out for if you come across these guys again.

Watch out for more, this space only. :)

Anyone remembers Agloco? It was one of the more innovative idea a couple of years back. Sign up, put up a toolbar, surf the web, click ads, and everyone shares the profit. Interesting idea. I did not sign up, I did not subscribe to the idea.

If I recall correctly, the idea never took off, it (the toolbar) did not come out of “testing stage”. It never worked. Am I wrong on this? Please do correct me if I am.

Now the domain name seems be re-directed to no-where. A search for the term on Google turns up over 2 million links, many still touting Agloco. Different methods and ways of “promoting” the concept.

Another one bites the dust. When it is too good to be true, it is not. At least someone is sitting on a premium name now, at least for a few months the name will stay premium.
