About Anything, and possibly Everything..

plugins.gif WordPress is one of the most stable and widely used CMS ever invented. Since it first appeared in 2003 thousands of bloggers from all around the world have taken to the web thanks entirely to WordPress and it’s extremely user-friendly nature. The wide user base combined with the extremely demanding blogging community, has driven many developers in the quest to create a growing number of Plugins that complement their WordPress blogs. I use eleven plugins that enable me to save time and better control my blog, effortlessly.

Adsense-Deluxe must be one of the most popular plugins ever created for WordPress. Just like the name suggest this plugin enables you to better control your adsense code and the way it is displayed on your blog. With Adsense-Deluxe you can add the Adsense or YPN (Yahoo Publisher Network) ads to posts, pages and themes with a simple line of code.

Askimet needs not introduction. Keep spammers out, simple and easy.

aLinks is one of my favourite plugins for many reasons. This plugin enables you to take a few words or phrases that you commonly use and turn them into links. My example is “Blog, Book, Video, Amazon” creates links to Amazon.com products and “nofollow” links a post on my blog.

Force Word Wrapping is a very simple plugin that does me a very big service. I’m sure you know some jokers that enjoy leaving comments like “9999999999999999999999999999″ or even “lololololololololololololololololololololololo”. If you’re one of those people skip this plugin, you don’t need it. If you’re a normal well mannered blogger use this plugin to prevent long comments from destroying your blog’s layout.

Google XML Sitemaps is used for creating a XML-Sitemap. The Sitemaps Protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling. Note: If you’re using or planing to use this plugin with WordPress 2.3 you MUST download the latest release. If you fail to do this your blog will explode.

ImageManager is an Image Manager plugin that that enables you to edit, upload, resize and insert images in your blog posts. Simply one of the most well developed plugins and a must if you want more control/options for your images. ImageManager integrates flawlessly into the visual post editor.

NoFollow Free is the latest addition to my WordPress plugins. In my opinion enabling this plugin is the correct thing to do since it disables the nofollow attribute, enabled by default on WordPress. This rewarding the people I link too and the ones that leave comments on my blog. Nofollow Free has many configuration options to suit everyone’s needs.

Related Posts is a very commonly used plugin that is very useful especially when used creatively. This plugin creates a list of related post and displays them wherever you want them to.

SimpleTags is a tagging plugin that lets you generate Technorati tags at the bottom of your blog entries. The best part about this plugin is that it is very simple to use.

Ultimate Tag Warrior is the most feature rich tagging plugin currently available for WordPress. Since pre 2.3 WordPress blogs didn’t have a tagging option this plugin was the best solution. Although I’m currently using WordPress 2.3 I still believe this plugin has much to offer.

WP-Amazon is the last plugin on my list. With this plugin you can search and add Amazon products to your blog posts in a very simple and convenient manner. The latest release creates a small icon on the top-right-corner of the visual editor page. Clicking on the button displays a search box for searching Amazon Products. After finding what you want just drag the item into you post and you’re done.

If you know of other plugins that are really cool and should be on my list please leave a comment bellow. You can never have too many plugins.
