Facebook is a Social networking site that permits its users to interact, communicate and exchange information with each other. The site was launched on February 4, 2004, starting initially as a membership site solemnly available to students of Harvard College. This has changed and at present Facebook has grown to boast more than 42 million active members worldwide and is currently ranked the 7th most visited web site in the world.
Facebook along with other Social networking sites have also managed to creep their way into the work place, which has forced many companies to take action. Although there are some good, ingenious ways to prevent employees from accessing such sites, there are also some good resourceful tools that unlock Facebook in a matter of minutes. I guess the best policy is not to get caught.
From the looks of things Social networking is here to stay, the only question is whether companies are whiling to accept this latest phenomenon. It is still too early to determine who will win but one thing we can guaranty, people just love Facebook.
