Fascinating Laws In Colorado

During the Louisiana Purchase, the United States obtained a lot of land, including what is nowadays part of Eastern Colorado. The rest of the land that is known as Colorado was obtained due to the Treaty of Hidalgo in 1848 and because of a purchase from Texas in 1850. Today the land is the residence of the Denver Broncos football team, the Colorado Rockies baseball team and the Colorado Avalanche hockey team.

The state is also the location of the Air Force Academy and the world recognized Denver Mint.
Colorado has made a number of great contributions to mineral production as well. In 1858, gold was discovered near the South Platte River and Cherry Creek contributing to the renowned Colorado Gold Rush. Steel was furthermore mined in 1858 by a business called Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I) sited in Pueblo. This business is even now running nowadays. The state is established for silver mining, beet sugar refining, and of course, beer.

With its rich history, Colorado has developed some pretty odd laws. One such law has just been reversed, but up until this year it was illegal to catch rainwater in the state. The state claimed that the rain that fell in the state belonged to the state alone. Rainfall was to fall to the land and add to the lakes and streams in the state. However a short time ago it was found that about 97% of the rain falls to the ground and either evaporates or is used by plant life.

This research and the modification of laws allowed many Colorado residents to be able to ultimately capture their precipitation and use it to irrigate their plants and use it for private use.
Several laws are ridiculous and antiquated. Within the last 20 years it has been made permissible to rip the label off your mattress or pillow.

Even though the tag was never intended for the purchaser, it was only for the places that sell the mattresses. Even if it?s now official to tear your tag off your mattress, it?s still prohibited to ride a horse while drunk. On the other hand, make sure you buy your alcoholic drink any other day of the week but Sunday since it?s prohibited for grocery or liquor stores to vend alcohol this day or on an election day. Liquor stores are not permitted to vend groceries, and grocery stores cannot market anything except for three point beer.

If you go to the mountains while in Colorado, just be warned, it?s against the law to harm the state rocks. There are also some pretty interesting city laws. For instance, it?s banned to abuse rats in Denver, and the dog catcher needs to attempt to tell the owners or dogs for three days before catching an animal.

In Logan County, it?s unlawful for a man to kiss a woman while she is sound asleep. Women you should be OK if you want to kiss your partner in the middle of the night though. If you reside in Pueblo, you need to be painstaking about removing the weeds from your yard as it is prohibited to let a dandelion grow in the city confines.
While several of these laws are old, it might be more pricey to eradicate the laws from the record rather than ignoring them.

Trying to obtain a lawyer to file a argument in opposition to your next door neighbor for their abundance of dandelions might be complex too. But, if they were willing to make a law allowing you to remove your mattress tags, I don?t see why they can?t publicly make it officially permitted for a man to kiss a woman while resting.
