Utah has some amazing rock structures . Coming down just to see these unbelievable natural wonders can be well worth it. Here is a short list of 4 sandstone formations that you simply must see when taking a vacation to Southern Utah.

1. Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the largest natural bridge on the face of the earth. It hovers over the very large Lake Powell and is truly an amazing site to see. This massive structure is visited by many hundreds of thousands of tourists every single year.

The rock structure is also a sacred monument for many Indian tribes and there are tours which will lead you down there. If you visit it plan on spending the whole day there.

2. The Delicate Arch

The delicate arch is a beautiful structure which lies in the Arches National Park, which is one of the most famous of the Utah National Parks. This gigantic Arch stands on top of a giant rocky mountain and makes an amazing picture.

The thing which makes the Delicate Arch such a beautiful spot that it is not surrounded by any other major rock structure. In addition to this, the view in it of itself unbelievable which makes it one of the best spot to take a picture or create a painting.

3. Mexican Hat

The Mexican Hat rock formation is a very interesting formation in Navajo Nation Utah near the small city of Mexican Hat. The rock formation gives off the appearance of a man sitting down in the middle of the desert with a large round ?sombrero? rock sitting on top hit tinny head.

It is just unbelievable to see this large rock balancing on such a tinny head. It must have been some amazing fluke of nature which formed it.

4. The Natural Bridges

The Natural Bridges Utah contains some of the most amazing structures on the planet. The park has a large number of great natural bridges. 1 is the second largest on earth, only the very famous Rainbow Bridge is bigger.

There are a number of hikes in the park which each lead to another amazing sandstone formation. There are only a couple major bridges here, but there are also a lot of little hikes leading to some interesting places, one actually leads to an old Indian village. It can definitely be worth taking a trip to this park and seeing all there is to see around it.

These wonderful Utah rock formations are all extremely beautiful and no trip to Southern Utah is complete without seeing at least a couple of them. After all Utah is filled with some major geological events which have created some amazing rock formations and deep canyons, it would be a shame to visit it without seeing some of these interesting structures.
