Snap now gives its users a unique way to make money from snap shots displayed on their sites. As of today it is possible to serve Adsense ads through their Snap Share service. The ads will be displayed underneath the main content of the Snap Shot once you’ve enable and configure Snap Shares from within your account.
The way the whole thing works is as follows. Instead of creating a new affiliate advertising program or complicated revenue sharing schema, Snap has developed a system in which it will take a portion of the advertising inventory on your site (the inventory mentioned is the ads shown on the snap shot) and share the rest with you in one of three ways:
- You can choose to display ads from your existing advertising provider like Adsense.
- You can choose to market yourself, or anything you want for that matter, using text or graphics ads.
- You can choose to donate your share of impressions to a charity of your choice.
It is too early to speculate whether site owners will be really interested in sharing their ad space for free, since all they get in return is an extra channel in which to earn a few extra clicks. All revenue generated by ads from the Snap Share service do not count since these belong exclusively to the Snap Share service and earnings are not shared.
